Senior Business Support Assistant
Salary: £15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Glenfield - Leicestershire (Hybrid – 2 days office / 3 days remote)
Client: Leicestershire County Council
Contract Type: Temporary
Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
About the Role: Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Senior Business Support Assistant to join the Children & Family Services Business Support Team, specifically within the Secretariats Team. This key role supports Directors and Heads of Service by providing a wide range of high-level administrative and secretarial support, ensuring the smooth operation of business functions within a statutory environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive secretarial and business support to senior leadership, managing statutory and local administrative tasks.
Manage diaries, schedule and arrange meetings for Directors and Heads of Service.
Plan and organise meetings including the preparation of agendas, materials, accurate minute-taking, and distribution of post-meeting documentation.
Liaise confidently with a range of internal and external stakeholders including MPs, schools, partner agencies, voluntary organisations, and the public.
Maintain and administer complex databases and ensure data is updated and audit-ready.
Manage senior inboxes and handle incoming calls, emails, and visitors professionally.
Develop and compile reports and statistical data for management and Freedom of Information requests.
Line manage staff, including supervision, performance reviews (PDR), and absence management (as required).
Undertake financial tasks such as imprest/p-card arrangements and budget monitoring.Experience & Knowledge

Significant administrative experience in a busy office environment.
Previous experience in a Secretariat or Personal Assistant role.
Strong understanding of business support processes and statutory requirements.
Experience with diary management and meeting facilitation.
Experience managing databases, spreadsheets, and producing management reports.
Budget monitoring and financial admin procedures.
Experience using Access databases.
Familiarity with the work of Children and Family Services and its external partnerships.
Understanding of Equal Opportunity and Child Protection issues.Skills & Competencies

Highly organised with excellent planning and coordination skills.
Confident in liaising with stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to take accurate minutes and draft professional correspondence.
Strong IT proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail, data accuracy, and record keeping.
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Collaborative team player with a flexible and proactive attitude.
Committed to confidentiality and data protection compliance.Additional Requirements

Must demonstrate regular attendance and reliability.

Able to perform all tasks with reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act 2010.
Willing to attend training, fire drills, and internal meetings as required.
