The Post
An opportunity for a permanent position has become available within our Network team for an experienced Network Engineer with a background specialising in Cisco, Checkpoint, F5 and Cloud Technologies.
This is an opportunity to work with and help deliver systems that help to support the Scottish National Health Service, and the successful candidate, with appropriate training support, will be expected to be able to pick up new skills quickly
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be part of a team supporting all our network infrastructure covering the whole of Scotland and will act as a point of contact for senior managers and all technical staff involved in supporting the IT infrastructure and platforms and will be expected to be able to draw on their existing experience to be a contributing member of the team very quickly.
There is, as part of the role, participation in a rota for out-of-hours cover supporting critical clinical business systems, which attracts supplementary pay.
You will have a strong background in Networking with skills covering:
* Cisco Ethernet Switching and Routing
* Firewall Configuration and Operation, particularly Checkpoint Maestro in both On-Prem and Cloud deployments, and Cisco ASA/FTD
* F5 Load balancers
* Wireless configuration and management using Cisco Access Points and Wireless LAN controllers.
* Knowledge of security best practices (NIST/CAF)
The IT structure is based on ITIL and you must have a working understanding, knowledge, and experience of good practice.
Also advantageous would be experience working in a hybrid cloud environment.
Location and Working Pattern:
Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow with hybrid working currently in place
Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
