We are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Hertfordshire for an experienced Environmental Protection Team Leader to join their service on an initial 12-week contract, offering competitive rates and the potential for extension. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident manager to provide short-term leadership support within a busy Environmental Protection function.
The successful candidate will lead and manage an Environmental Protection team, overseeing service delivery across areas such as statutory nuisance, noise, pollution control, and enforcement activity. Responsibilities will include allocating workloads, providing technical guidance, reviewing enforcement action, and ensuring statutory duties and performance targets are met.
Applicants must have significant experience working in Environmental Protection within a UK local authority, with proven team leadership or management experience. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. Previous interim or contract experience is desirable.
