<div><h3>How youll make a difference</h3><p>As a Specialist Public Health Manager, you will shape and drive one of the councils public health programme areas, leading action to tackle health inequalities and improve outcomes for local communities. You will take strategic ownership of commissioning, service delivery and programmes, working in partnership to create lasting impact.</p><p>As a member of the Public Health Leadership team, you will strengthen the divisions ways of working while leading multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, effective services. Through influencing council policy and advising senior leaders and members, you will support outcome-focused decision-making and ensure resources are used effectively across the system. This is a unique opportunity to lead with purpose, influence system-wide change and make a meaningful difference to peoples lives.</p><h3>What you will be doing</h3><ul><li>It will be your responsibility to provide expert public health advice to senior managers and elected members, ensuring a strong public health approach is embedded in council policy and decision-making.</li><li>By leading an agreed public health programme area, you will shape strategy and drive delivery to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities.</li><li>You will manage staff, budgets and resources to deliver value for money and agreed public health outcomes.</li><li>Using your strong influencing and partnership-building skills, you will work across statutory, voluntary and commercial sectors to ensure services are coordinated and maximise population health impact.</li><li>Overseeing performance and reporting outcomes for senior leadership and members, you will support assurance, accountability and continuous improvement.</li></ul><h3>What we need from you</h3><ul><li>We require you to hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in public health or an equivalent field, or demonstrate equivalent senior-level experience in public health, service commissioning or delivery.</li><li>You will be a strategic thinker, capable of solving complex problems, influencing decisions and operating effectively within multi-agency environments.</li><li>With proven leadership and management experience, you will be able to lead, motivate and develop teams to deliver improved population health outcomes and reduce inequalities.</li><li>It is essential that you have a track record of leading strategies, programmes or projects, with evidence of delivering tangible results.</li><li>Given the nature of the role, you will be confident in supporting evidence-informed decision-making within partnership or system environments.</li><li>We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills, alongside the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload.</li></ul><h3>What you need to know</h3><ul><li>This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Yate and from home.</li><li>All applications will be initially reviewed and if you are shortlisted, you will be invited to complete a psychometric assessment.
