Senior Civil Design Engineer
Location : Manchester, UK (hybrid)
Rate : £45 - £55 per hour, outside IR35
Duration : 6 months+
Start Date : ASAP / Jan 2026 Turner Lovell are recruiting on behalf of a leading international engineering contractor delivering large-scale electrical infrastructure and grid connection projects across the UK. We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineers to support the design and coordination of civil and structural elements for major infrastructure projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with proven experience leading civil design packages from tender through to construction, working within a multi-disciplinary project environment.
Key Responsibilities :
* Lead civil and structural design for multiple high-voltage infrastructure projects.
* Deliver detailed designs using hand calculations and design software (Tedds, STAAD-Pro, MasterSeries).
* Oversee and review consultant designs for accuracy, compliance, and buildability.
* Prepare and manage design scopes, tender documentation, and technical deliverables.
* Coordinate effectively with electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams.
* Provide technical support to procurement and construction teams throughout project delivery.
* Track design progress, lead reviews, and ensure delivery to programme.
* Undertake site visits to validate designs and address construction challenges.
* Maintain full compliance with CDM, Building Regulations, and HSE standards.
Requirements :
* Degree-qualified in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline.
* Proven experience delivering civil and structural designs within energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
* Strong knowledge of UK and European design codes, standards, and regulations.
* Skilled in reviewing consultant designs and ensuring technical accuracy and efficiency.
* Familiar with geotechnical assessments, drainage design, and earthworks principles.
* Confident managing design interfaces across multiple engineering disciplines.
Desirable :
* Experience in high-voltage or renewable energy projects.
* Understanding of fire safety and life protection design.
* Working knowledge of the Specification for Highway Works.
