Job Overview
This SAM (Software Asset Management) Consultant will be responsible for delivering expert guidance and operational support to optimise software licensing, compliance, and cost efficiency across client environments. The role ensures adherence to contractual obligations and regulatory requirements while driving value and optimisation through proactive licence management strategies.
Responsibilities
* Conduct software asset audits and license reconciliations across multiple vendors, calling on existing vendor‑specific consultancy resources as necessary.
* Analyse vendor agreements to understand terms, obligations, measurement and identify compliance risks and optimisation opportunities.
* Develop and implement SAM frameworks aligned with ISO/IEC 19770 standards.
* Advise clients on software procurement strategies and cost‑saving initiatives.
* Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
* Collaborate with IT, procurement, and finance teams to integrate SAM processes into business operations.
* Support clients during vendor audits and negotiations.
Skills & Competencies
* Strong knowledge of software licensing models and compliance requirements.
* Ability to input into and lead pre‑sales work for prospective customers.
* Undertake SAM maturity assessments and make associated recommendations.
* Analytical skills for interpreting complex license data and contracts.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Ability to work across multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
* Recommend optimisation/remediation steps.
* Coordinate project activities, milestones and documentation.
Experience & Tools
* Consulting experience to director/C‑level.
* Knowledge of various vendors, their approach to audit and commercial resolution.
* Review, creation, implementation and execution of SAM processes within organisations.
* Experience with SAM tools (e.g., Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow SAM Pro).
* Audit preparation and defence.
