Overview
Leicestershire County Council is seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join the Special Educational Needs Assessment (SENA) Service as a SENA Assistant. This key role provides high‑quality administrative and operational support to ensure the effective delivery of services to children and families.
Responsibilities
- Support the coordination and administration of SENA processes, including referrals and casework activity.
- Maintain accurate and timely records across information systems.
- Liaise with families, schools and professionals to gather and share information.
- Provide high‑quality customer service through telephone, email and face‑to‑face contact.
- Support data quality and reporting requirements.
- Assist with meeting coordination, correspondence and documentation.
- Deliver accessible and inclusive services that meet the needs of all residents.
Qualifications
- Recognised academic qualifications such as GCSEs or equivalent, including NVQ Level 2 in literacy and numeracy, and NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in a clerical or administrative role, ideally within a public sector setting, including handling correspondence, record systems and general office duties.
- Demonstrable experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software systems, including maintaining and developing electronic and manual record systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with members of the public and staff at all levels, with good written skills to produce high‑quality materials for a variety of audiences.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and deal appropriately with sensitive information in line with service requirements.
- Ability to manage and co‑ordinate a busy workload, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure using own initiative.
- Evidence of delivering excellent customer care, working effectively as part of a team, and liaising with internal staff, external agencies and the public.
