Overview
Health Services Researcher (Ref: 226155) – Band 7 (£50,861 - £59,159). Permanent, Full Time (37 Hours per week). Hybrid working in Edinburgh/Glasgow (for the foreseeable future).
Healthcare Improvement Scotland is an organisation with many parts and one purpose – better quality health and social care for everyone in Scotland. This post is within the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) and National Cancer Medicines Advisory Group (NCMAG) programmes. The successful candidate will divide their working time equally between the two teams.
Responsibilities
* Support Clinical Assessment Group activities regarding the critical appraisal of clinical evidence for medicines.
* Lead tasks associated with the assessment of Abbreviated Submissions (a streamlined process reviewing medicines where alternatives in the same class have been accepted for use within NHSScotland).
* Support key functions within SMC, focusing on the new medicines assessment process, including leading clinical expert consultation and literature reviews to validate end of life and orphan status.
* Conduct budget impact assessments and perform critical appraisal of clinical studies and indirect treatment comparisons.
* Lead critical reviews and appraisals of clinical studies and help deliver the NCMAG programme, ensuring robust methods and processes and monitoring impact on patient access to treatment.
* Design evaluation tools to understand effectiveness and impact of new processes in relation to project objectives.
* Collaborate with the project team to monitor and measure impact on service delivery and patient access to cancer medicines where applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
* Numerate or biomedical degree with a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject; knowledge of clinical research methodology is desirable.
* Experience in conducting literature reviews and critical appraisals.
* Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
