Working Conditions
Location: London – Hanbury St, Spitalfields
Permanent position
Shift work patterns, including weekend work. Engineers are not required to work between 00:00 and 07:00.
What You’ll Do
Provide expert technical support, monitoring and maintenance for Cingularity’s global network and video services, ensuring flawless delivery of live broadcast content in a fast‑paced 24/7 Technical Operations Centre (TOC).
Key Responsibilities
* Proactively monitor the Cingularity Network and video services using tools such as Nimbra Vision, Zabbix, Grafana and Transport‑Stream probes.
* Participate in a hybrid follow‑the‑sun rota, ensuring 24/7 coverage.
* Contribute to a culture of high performance, collaboration and continuous learning within the TOC team.
* Review planned work activities to minimise disruption to live services.
* Execute live transmissions, including routing, check‑in, monitoring and check‑out procedures.
* Provide direct customer support via phone and email, address service issues and coordinate with partners and suppliers.
* Proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they impact service delivery.
* Document service bookings and service provisioning.
* Investigate and resolve network and service incidents, preparing incident reports and root‑cause analysis.
* Assist in developing and maintaining incident management and disaster‑recovery plans.
* Support lessons‑learnt and incident reporting for clients.
* Review, refine and document TOC workflows, processes and procedures.
* Maintain accurate records of network configurations and incident logs.
* Follow the change‑management process.
* Assist in implementation of bespoke solutions: device configuration, testing, documentation, installation and commissioning.
* Contribute to core network development and upgrade of the Cingularity DTM and IP networks.
* Support video‑system development and upgrades for baseband and IP systems, including encoders, decoders and routers.
* Evaluate new technologies, tools and systems to improve TOC capabilities.
Essential Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Network Engineer or Broadcast Engineer with strong network knowledge.
* Deep knowledge of broadcast environments and workflows.
* Experience operating transmission equipment such as encoders, decoders and video routers.
* In‑depth knowledge of the TCP/IP stack, including switching, routing and multicast.
* Proficiency in Office 365 or G‑Suite, with strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
* Track record of delivering outstanding customer experience.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused under pressure.
* Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to follow and develop operational processes to a high standard.
* Motivation to build knowledge on existing and emerging technologies.
* Self‑motivated and organised.
* Flexibility to work unsociable hours as required for sporting events.
Desirable Skills
* Familiarity with the Net Insight portfolio, particularly the MSR platform.
* Experience with routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
* Experience in video and audio encoding technologies and parameters.
* Knowledge of fibre‑optic technologies and troubleshooting.
* Experience with Windows, Linux and optionally macOS operating systems.
* Experience with booking or automation systems.
* Degree in engineering, telecommunications or related field.
* Python scripting experience.
Unusual Challenges
* International travel required at least once a year.
* Pressure of a live broadcast environment where minor technical issues can have major consequences.
* Hybrid follow‑the‑sun support model with shift patterns; no work between 00:00 and 07:00.
