Academic Administrator
QA Higher Education, onsite at Northumbria University, Newcastle
Our academic Administrator role is offered as an hourly rate contract, providing flexibility with your working schedule. This arrangement allows you to balance work and personal commitments more effectively. This contract structure is designed to support a healthier work-life balance and accommodate the diverse needs of the Pathway college.
Do you have strong administration experience, ideally within the education sector (preferred), or within a busy back office function where organisation and communication are key? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!
About our role:
As a member of the student and academic support team, you will coordinate and contribute to the provision of professional services within the Pathway College at Northumbria University Newcastle.
You will coordinate activities related to administration, student support, communication, and teamwork within a Higher Education environment at QAHE Pathway College.
You will cultivate relationships with students, university stakeholders, and Pathway staff to enable the provision of excellent student service and experience.
Essential skills: Communication skills, good IT skills, proficiency in Word and Excel.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and maintaining accurate monitoring, reporting, and feedback on student induction, attendance, academic performance, and assessment submission activities.
* Providing tailored advice to staff and students on relevant legislative and policy changes affecting sponsorship eligibility, referencing multiple guidance sources, and escalating issues when necessary.
* Ensuring all engagement tracker data is recorded and up-to-date for sponsored and non-sponsored student reporting purposes.
* Developing processes and procedures with the Head of Student and Academic Support to ensure high-quality customer service via phone, email, or face-to-face interactions.
Bring your experience:
* Sound administrative experience, preferably within the education sector.
* Experience in multitasking and delivering tasks within agreed timescales.
* Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong literacy, numerical, and Excel skills.
* Team player with flexibility and adaptability to change.
* Well-organised and methodical approach.

QA Higher Education partners with Northumbria University to manage and deliver International Foundation Programmes (IFP), International Year One in Business, Medical Foundation, and Pre-Masters in Business. Successful completion of these programmes provides entry into various undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the university.
