Overview

The Natural Resources Institute is a specialist research, knowledge exchange and postgraduate training unit based at the University of Greenwich’s Medway Campus. The Institute has a strong history of innovative research to address global challenges related to agriculture and food security. The unique diversity of disciplines across NRI’s three departments provides opportunities for transdisciplinary and systems research relevant to tackling the complexity of contemporary and emerging global agriculture, biodiversity, food security, food system and one-health challenges.


Responsibilities

* Carry out identification and synthesis of natural products from insects, plants, and animals as part of existing projects.
* Carry out organic chemical synthesis and analysis as part of the team working on application of chemical ecology for control of pests and diseases of crops, livestock, and people.
* Contribute to applications for future funding to continue research.
* Contribute to the preparation of research outputs including published papers.
* There will be opportunities for the post-holder to undertake teaching at postgraduate and undergraduate level.


Qualifications

* Good theoretical and practical background in chemistry with an interest in natural products, as demonstrated through a relevant PhD.
* Specific training in synthesis of insect-produced chemicals will be provided.

Salary: £38,784 to £44,746 per annum
