Senior Support Worker – D‑BIT West
Permanent, Full‑time
Salary: £26,284 to £33,256 per annum
Location: Harlow, Essex
Working style: Community‑based worker (primarily in families’ homes and communities)
Contract length: 12 months (or as per service needs)
Closing date: 19 May 2026
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Solution Focused intervention with whole families, working alongside D‑BIT colleagues to support families to stay together safely.
* Maintain close links with other agencies and services to ensure consistent approach and avoid duplication.
* Prepare and write reports for family meetings, Child in Need and Child Protection meetings.
* Attend relevant meetings and contribute to planning and evaluation of interventions.
* Apply professional practice standards and personal conduct to build confidence in the social work service.
* Collaborate with D‑BIT colleagues, frontline social workers, managers and other professionals to improve outcomes for children.
* Participate in professional supervision according to policy and D‑BIT processes.
Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 3 – Caring for Children and Young People or equivalent qualification or work‑based experience.
* Familiarity with the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
* Experience or knowledge of the Solution Focused approach.
* Experience working in a supportive relationship with children, young people and families.
* Experience planning activities for children, young people and parents.
* Knowledge of child development and understanding of factors impacting families such as poverty, disability and bereavement.
* First Aid Certificate (desirable but not essential).
* Mobile across Essex with a driving licence or ability to meet mobility requirements.
* DBS check required; candidate will need to register with DBS Update Service.
