Rotational Occupational Therapist Band 6

The Great Western Hospital are looking to recruit Band 6 Occupational Therapists as part of our rotational programme. We would be open to welcoming applications from current Band 5 OTs wanting to develop into a Band 6 role.

Our Band 6 Rotational Programme includes gaining valuable experience in the following areas:

* Orthopaedic Therapy – Trauma and Elective
* Acute Occupational Therapy – Medicine and Surgery
* Front Door Therapy – Emergency care and Admission Avoidance

Each rotation will be for 9 months where you will rotate within the above areas to support the demand in the hospital site.

If you would like to find out more information about these opportunities or to arrange a brief department walk‑around, please get in touch with Louise White or Michaela Kirby on 01793 646141.

The role of the Senior Occupational Therapist is to provide, develop and deliver a specialised and skilled level of Occupational Therapy intervention to each service within the rotation.

Key responsibilities include:

* Participate in the Band 6 Rotation Scheme for 9 months within Acute Occupational Therapy, Orthopaedic Therapy and Front Door Therapy Services.
* Be aware of the total therapy needs of the team, the changing demands and take action in consultation with the Team Leaders to fulfil these needs.
* Proactively deliver therapeutic interventions within a timely manner to enable patients to maintain their independence, identifying when patients would benefit from further rehabilitation and support services and to refer on to other services appropriately.
* Provide clinical leadership and specialist advice through the supervision, coaching and education of less experienced occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants, students, support workers and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
* Assist with continuous service development of the therapy services to provide high‑quality care and timely intervention.
* Hold responsibility for own caseload, working without direct supervision.
* Manage complex diverse cases which may include medical, neurological, traumatic brain injury, surgical, orthopaedic, musculo‑skeletal and psychiatric conditions.

Our STAR values – Service, Teamwork, Ambition and Respect – are a golden thread running through everything we do. These values serve as a guiding principle, driving us towards our vision of delivering great joined‑up services to our local community. Whether at home, in the community, or within the hospital, our goal is to empower individuals to lead independent and healthier lives.

The staff member will be required to work their contracted hours over 7 days a week.
