Shift Manager – Critical Data Centre Operations | Slough
We are recruiting for a Shift Manager to oversee operations within a mission-critical data centre in Slough. This role is ideal for a strong leader with a technical background who thrives in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment and is committed to maintaining uptime and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage shift teams to ensure the continuous operation of critical infrastructure
* Act as the primary point of contact during your shift for all operational and technical matters
* Oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities across electrical and mechanical systems
* Respond to incidents, faults, and alarms, ensuring swift resolution and escalation where required
* Ensure compliance with all site procedures, SLAs, and health & safety standards
* Authorise and manage safe systems of work (PTW, RAMS, LOTO)
* Coordinate subcontractors and specialist vendors on-site
* Maintain accurate shift logs, reports, and incident records (CMMS/BMS)
* Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a Shift Manager or similar leadership role within a critical environment (data centres, healthcare, financial services, etc.)
* Strong technical knowledge of critical systems (HV/LV, UPS, generators, cooling systems, BMS)
* Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3+ or equivalent)
* Experience managing teams in a shift-based, 24/7 environment
* Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure
* Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
* Familiarity with compliance procedures and operational best practices
