Full job description
This is a late shift position, either from 12pm-8pm or 1pm-9pm (TBC). There will be an additional premium paid for hours past 6pm.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and programming our wood machinery, including CNC and 5-axis Router to produce parts for assembly into finished units for retailers and brands. The role will require translating programmes into high-quality output, with accuracy and in line with production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Set and operate wood machinery, such as CNC, Router, Beam Saw and Edge bander. Various brands including Homag and Biesse.
Interpret technical drawings and manufacturing data to produce parts.
Set up tooling, calibrate machinery, and monitor production runs to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
Work closely with the design and engineering teams to optimise CNC programs and production flow.
Ensure that materials are available for jobs and liaising with purchasing as to their due dates where required.
Booking finished job tickets on the system and moving goods to their next location in the building
Communicating issues, quality concerns, shortages, material problems etc quickly and clearly.
Perform quality checks on finished products using basic maths to ensure compliance with specifications.
Conduct routine maintenance checks and troubleshoot issues as needed.
Ensure all products meet fire safety and quality compliance standards.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with company H&S procedures.
Handle materials safely, ensuring proper storage and organisation within the warehouse environment.
Collaborate with team members in assembly and other areas, with a willingness to learn other machines, materials and processes as most of the workforce is multi-skilled.Requirements:
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production documentation.
Understanding of wood machining, tooling, and production processes.
Experience with tools.
Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and problem-solving skills.
Positive attitude and ability to work effectively with autonomy, and as part of a multi-disciplinary late-shift team.
Experience as a CNC Operator/Programmer in the woodworking or joinery manufacturing sector.
Experience with Beamsaw and Edge bander machines.
Able to learn and work on additional machines
Forklift licence is usefulExperience:
CNC programming: 2 years (preferred)
