Responsibilities
* Assist residents in personal care including toileting, cleaning, bathing, dressing and undressing, ensuring dignity, independence and respect.
* Serve meals and beverages, assisting residents requiring additional attention at mealtimes.
* Assist residents with restricted mobility to move to dining areas and other communal areas, and respect their privacy when requested.
* Attend to residents with reduced continence control, toileting and changing continence pads, keeping residents comfortable and reducing skin deterioration risks.
* Carry out care activity in accordance with the care plan, including turning and moving to reduce the risk of pressure sores.
* Keep bedroom areas tidy, change bed linen regularly and manage waste and commodes appropriately.
* Clean and maintain equipment used in personal care (e.g., commodes and wheelchairs).
* Practice safe systems of work, with emphasis on moving and handling and risk assessment to protect residents, visitors and staff.
* Understand health and safety responsibilities, including moving and handling and fire safety procedures.
* Act courteously toward residents and visitors, respecting each resident’s dignity and individuality.
* Contribute to team work, follow reasonable instructions promptly and attend staff meetings and training as required.
* Take reasonable care of equipment, ensure cleanliness and report faults or maintenance needs.
* Ensure safe, tidy storage of supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
* A Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and experience in a similar role is desirable.
* Previous Carer and Dementia experience highly desirable.
