Overview
An opportunity has arisen to join the Colorectal team within the Surgery Care Group as a Consultant Surgeon with a 10 PA job plan. Elective working will include colorectal cancer MDT, elective laparoscopic and open surgery, colonoscopy lists and outpatient activity. You will be expected to cover the unselected emergency weekend take on a 1:20 rota. Further weekend working covering emergency colorectal 1:20 and colorectal ward rounds 1:20 resulting in 3:20 weekends worked.
Requirements
Candidates would ideally have GMC specialist registration.
Responsibilities
* Be part of a team of 13 colorectal consultants in a busy tertiary referral teaching hospital.
* Manage an undifferentiated general surgical intake including major trauma with a specialised colorectal interest.
* Contribute to elective colorectal cancer surgery, MDT participation, colonoscopy lists, laparoscopic and open procedures, and outpatient activity.
* Cover weekend and on-call commitments as described (1:20 rota and 3:20 weekend workload).
Terms and Timeline
Employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003. Interviews will be held on 1 October 2025. This vacancy closes on or before 26 September 2025.
