Job Overview
We offer a £2,000 welcome payment for qualified and experienced Social Workers/Occupational Therapists (grade J and above), Practice Consultants and Team Managers new to Norfolk County Council. Amount to be repaid in full should they leave within two years of employment.
The Emergency Duty Team is a small bespoke service that responds to emergencies out of hours, covering adult social care, childcare, and assessments under the Mental Health Act. If appointed, there will be an opportunity to train as an Approved Mental Health Professional – a requirement for statutory work under the Mental Health Act.
Responsibilities
* Respond to emergencies that cannot wait until the next working day, including Mental Health Act assessments, child in need/child protection, and adult safeguarding/support.
* Triage, risk‑assess, and prioritise cases.
* Communicate effectively verbally, electronically, and in writing, and maintain accurate records on the platform.
* Work autonomously on overnight shifts and provide cover on Bank Holidays (paid at double time) and weekends (enhanced pay).
* Participate in management support 24/7 and collaborate with daytime colleagues.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years post‑qualifying experience and completion of first year ASYE/NIPE as a newly qualified Social Worker. Experience in adult or child social care is preferred; training will be provided to expand skills.
