18 Month Fixed Term Contract
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Estates Department manage a property portfolio across the County of East Sussex and the City of Brighton & Hove
The Estate comprises 26 individual sites with a gross internal floor area of circa 20,000 sqm plus an HQ facility in Lewes shared with Sussex Police
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Facilities Manager within the Estates Team to manage the effective management and maintenance of all ESFRS properties and facilities while supporting the delivery of critical emergency services, leading the customer focused Estates Revenue Team to support the Fire Service's long-term vision and its purpose to make our communities safer.
The successful candidate must have an appropriate professional qualification or degree and significant facilities management experience preferably in the public sector or emergency services environment. Applicants must have a demonstrable track record of managing projects effectively, strong problem solving skills and excellent communication skills.
A sound knowledge of building services, maintenance requirements, and regulatory compliance as well as experience in contract management and supplier relationships are also essential requirements of the role.
The post requires a valid UK driving licence and the ability to conduct physical inspections of premises. Travel throughout the county is a requirement for this post.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake a standard DBS check prior to commencing the role.

DBS and Non-Police Personnel Vetting
All roles at East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will be subject to either DBS checks (minimum standard level) or a Police vetting process (the latter for roles based at Joint Headquarters in Lewes). The check will take place for the preferred candidate at the end of the selection process, before a final offer of employment can be made.
