Job Description
Based alongside the UK's leading manufacturer of CCTV camera mounting equipment, Swelco is a sub-contract supplier of components to OEM's and steel fabrication companies throughout Wales and the UK. We also produce components used in house for Altron's range of CCTV products. We are based in Capel Hendre, near Swansea in South Wales. Most of our processes are in house; we laser-cut, bend, fabricate, weld and also powder coat and we work in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
Vacancy
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic to person join our busy production team as Trainee Laser Operator.
Although previous experience working in a similar role / engineering environment would be beneficial, it is not essential as full training will be given.
Job role
· Operate lasers on a 2 / 3 shift production cycle.
· Maintain Health & Safety standards within the laser production area.
· To record information accurately in accordance with ISO9001:2015.
· Check and maintain cut quality and tolerances.
· Work closely with the Production Foreman and Supervisor to improve machine availability, quality and maximise machine cutting times.
· Identify material types and grades including Aluminium, Steel and Stainless Steel
· Select correct programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment
· Identify and segregate components required for individual areas within the company.
Knowledge – Skills – Experience
· Computer literate
· Proficient in mathematics, with qualifications in science, English and/or NVQ in mechanical subject is preferable
· Ability to accurately record information and times etc.
· Experience working under ISO and quality management systems an advantage
· Current or previous counterbalance fork lift truck licence an advantage
· Previous overhead gantry training an advantage

Full time position - 38 hours per week, working a 2/3 shift production cycle (Mornings / Afternoon / Days)
Rate of Pay (dependant on experience): £12.40 to £13.77 p/h
Infrequently we may require operators to work a night shift, however this will attract an additional enhanced shift allowance.
With ongoing training, rates will increase through pay grade system.
