Overview
Join to apply for the Bank Community Podiatrist role at Sirona care & health.
Are you a dynamic and talented podiatrist ready to enhance your skills and experience of podiatry within the NHS? If so, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic podiatrist to join our Sirona team. You will be joining a supportive and friendly team based in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire with a proven track record of internal career promotion to senior roles. You will be supported to work as an autonomous practitioner managing a varied patient caseload including high risk/diabetes/wound care/biomechanics. Care is delivered in community clinics, GP practices, care/nursing homes and people’s homes.
We provide a supportive working environment through induction and mentorship, regular 1:1s with your line manager and clinical supervision. We are committed to promoting evidence-based practice and delivering a high standard of care throughout the service. Our aim is to enable people to live longer and healthier lives and to access care and support close to where they live.
Responsibilities
* Provide a high standard of podiatric care to maintain tissue viability, mobility and independence for high-risk patients or those with acute foot infection, delivered through assessment, diagnosis and development of appropriate care plans.
* Plan and manage your own caseload with support from senior colleagues, including specialist care for patients with diabetes, rheumatoid and biomechanical problems. Develop specialist treatment plans for various clinical needs, including acute and chronic neuropathies, vascular and wound management.
* Assess new and existing patients, use clinical judgement to determine access criteria, and appropriately signpost to alternative providers when required (referring to a mentor/senior podiatrist for support).
* Screen high-risk patients to monitor their condition and degree of risk to foot health, including neurological and vascular assessments.
* Undertake domiciliary visits across the region and refer complex cases to senior colleagues or other departments as per referral pathways and guidelines; discharge patients when appropriate.
* Communicate effectively with patients and carers about care plans and progress, overcoming potential communication barriers.
* Provide foot health education and advice to patients, relatives and carers in one-to-one and group sessions.
Qualifications and Experience
* Autonomous practitioner with experience in podiatry within community or NHS settings is desirable. The role includes specialist care for diabetes, rheumatoid and biomechanical issues, and management of neuropathies, vascular and wound-related conditions.
