We’re currently seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and well-resourced Special Needs School in the Cheltenham area. This school supports pupils aged 4 to 11 with a wide range of complex needs, including ASD (Autism), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties), and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties).

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with a nurturing approach and a genuine desire to help children thrive — whether you’re experienced or looking to start a career in SEND.

What You’ll Be Doing:

1. Supporting pupils with learning and physical needs in both 1:1 and small group settings

2. Assisting with personal care and moving & handling, including the use of hoists

4. Promoting emotional wellbeing and encouraging independence

5. Remaining calm and flexible in response to changes in behaviour or routine

6. Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

About the School:

7. A supportive, inclusive special school with a child-centred approach

8. Small class sizes and high staff-to-student ratios for focused support

9. Tailored curriculum focused on life skills, independence, and preparation for the future

10. Access to on-site therapy teams and strong links with outside agencies

11. Easily accessible from Oakley, Prestbury, Montpellier, and surrounding areas

What We’re Looking For:

12. Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (desirable but not essential)

13. Friendly, flexible, and patient personality

14. Understanding of or interest in ASD, SLD, PMLD

15. Confident assisting with personal care and physical support

16. Strong communication skills and a team player attitude

17. Own transport preferred due to school location

18. Willingness to undertake Moving & Handling and other relevant CPD training

19. A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs succeed
