Job Opportunity: Asbestos Bulk Analyst (P401)
Location: (Hertfordshire/Essex )
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £26,000 – £27,000 (DOE) + Benefits + Progression
We are currently recruiting for a P401-qualified Asbestos Bulk Analyst to join a well-established, UKAS-accredited environmental consultancy based near Bishop’s Stortford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lab-based professional to work with a high-performing team delivering accurate and compliant asbestos analysis.
The Role:
Working within a modern laboratory environment, you will be responsible for analysing bulk asbestos samples using polarised light microscopy (PLM), identifying fibre types, and producing detailed reports in line with UKAS standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct analysis of bulk samples for asbestos content (PLM method)
*
Accurately identify asbestos types in accordance with HSG248
*
Ensure sample documentation and lab records are completed accurately
*
Maintain a clean and compliant working environment
*
Adhere to all relevant UKAS, HSE, and internal procedures
*
Support quality assurance and participate in internal audits
Requirements:
*
BOHS P401 qualification (essential)
*
Previous experience in a UKAS-accredited asbestos laboratory
*
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
*
Good communication and data recording skills
*
Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, close-knit team
*
Live within commuting distance of Bishop’s Stortford
