Think FE Ltd is working on behalf of an Ofsted rated Good further education college in Middlesbrough to recruit a dedicated Maths Lecturer, primarily to teach GCSE resits to year olds. This is a role that can be offered as temporary or permanent depending on the candidate.
Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver and assess engaging and effective lessons for GCSE maths resits and other mathematics provision as needed
* Motivate learners aged who may have had interruptions in their learning, building their confidence and helping them make rapid progress
* Support and monitor student progress, give feedback, and work with other staff to ensure high standards of achievement
* Participate in departmental meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and support a culture of continuous improvement
Person Specification
We are ideally looking for someone who:
* Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills (QTLS)
* Has experience teaching GCSE mathematics resits, or teaching maths in an alternative provision or HMP setting. If not, then strong experience teaching GCSE maths in secondary schools may be considered
* Is resilient, adaptable, and able to demonstrate strong communication and pedagogy skills in interview.
* Has good classroom management skills and an ability to engage learners who may have had previously negative experiences of mathematics
