This pivotal role is based at our Head Office in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, and forms a key part of our Civil Engineering Division.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting both the Divisional and Regional Business Hubs, making a significant impact on their operations. A central aspect of this position is to assist the Senior Pre-Construction Manager ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of projects.
Given the nature of this role, the individual should be prepared for travel within the UK and Ireland, as our projects and collaborations often extend beyond Northern Ireland. Regular travel will be an essential part of this position.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Pre-Construction Manager to join our dynamic team, based in Northern Ireland, to drive success in our upcoming projects.
Job Summary:
As a Pre-Construction Manager, you will report to the Senior Pre-Construction Manager and play a pivotal role in our project planning and development stages. Your expertise will guide the pre-construction phase, including design, cost estimation, risk analysis, and client liaison, ensuring a solid foundation for successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Input into the pre-construction phase of civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, water infrastructure, maritime and public works
2. Review client documentation and designs diligently building a clear understanding of client requirements, constraints and expectations to prepare and develop a pre-construction methodology
3. Develop and review potential construction methodology options, supply chain packages and preliminaries
4. Lead supply-chain meetings, developing detailed understanding of scope and identify and solve any potential gaps
5. Collaborate with design teams, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure project feasibility and alignment with client expectations.
6. Support the management of Designers, setting clear deliverables, tracking progress, reviewing output and incorporating into bid and/or ECI documentation
7. Conduct site visits and evaluations to inform methodology and schedule development
8. Support the preparation and management of detailed project budgets, cost estimates, and schedules.
9. Facilitate effective communication between clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
10. Travel across the UK and Ireland as required for project development and client meetings.
11. Participate in tender processes, including the preparation of bids and proposals as well as Early Contractor Involvement projects
12. Foster relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry professionals.
13. Support Programme development
14. Support handovers to Operations Teams
Qualifications:
15. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
16. At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the civil engineering sector.
17. Strong understanding of the construction process, design principles, and project management.
18. Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Package, AutoCAD. MS Project / P6, BIM and Navisworks desirable).
19. Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
20. Ability to travel throughout the UK and Ireland as needed.
21. Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
Desirable Skills:
22. Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE, CIOB, Engineers Ireland).
23. Experience in sustainable and environmentally friendly construction practices.
24. Knowledge of local and national construction regulations and standards.
