The opportunity:
We are seeking a Paralegal to join our esteemed Intellectual Property team at Baker McKenzie, Belfast. The successful candidate will support our firm's IP practice, handling high volumes of IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work in a deadline-driven environment. You will work on globally significant IP portfolios, requiring a global mindset and the ability to coordinate effectively across cultures and teams. This role involves collaboration with technology teams, paralegals, lawyers, and partners worldwide, providing key support to senior professionals and ensuring reliable work performance.

Main responsibilities:
1. Support the global IP practice on technical trade mark formalities, including registration, prosecution, maintenance, renewal, and post-registration steps.
2. Prepare client reports independently.
3. Assist with global IP M&A activities, including recordal of assignments, licenses, security interests, and registry updates.
4. Conduct comprehensive IP asset due diligence using official registries and databases.
5. Support anti-counterfeiting programs, including drafting guides, seizure notifications, and liaising with infringers.
6. Perform trade mark scan searches and generate high-quality reports.
7. Develop legal expertise to support firm lawyers and clients effectively.
8. Ensure compliance with firm procedures and standards, managing deadlines and workload proactively.
Essential criteria:
* Relevant undergraduate degree, 2.1 or above preferred.
* Legal background with trade mark/IP experience preferred.
* Authorization to work in the UK.
Desirable criteria:
* CITMA qualification is an advantage.
