Prismatic is currently developing a High-Altitude Pseudo Satellite (HAPS) Platform which operates in the stratosphere. We are a small group of innovators, leading the way in aerospace technology, shaping the skies of tomorrow and making the impossible, possible.
In the role of Senior IT Technician, you will be joining a growing team at our Alton, Hants office, giving you the opportunity to assist in the troubleshooting, upkeep of the IT estate and providing excellent service to our colleagues.
You will bring your expertise and skills to the IT Team and use your exceptional communication and organisational abilities to collaborate directly with teams across the business to maintain and deliver fit for purpose solutions to enable our goal of operationalising the stratosphere.
Tasks and Accountabilities
* Deliver first-class support to our end-users both on-premises and remote, managing tickets, sourcing approvals, and escalating to relevant parties via the service desk.
* Proactively monitor and maintain our IT assets, inventory, and registers, including server and network appliances, endpoints, peripherals (e.g. mice, keyboards, monitors) and conferencing equipment, ensuring our documentation is current and error-free.
* Maintain server and endpoint configurations in line with best practice and in response to latest industry intelligence. Enforce security policies and successfully lead company certification initiatives for existing and future standards and frameworks, such as Cyber Essentials.
* Manage Windows and Linux-based operating systems, domain services, and lead all areas of service delivery and technical support across our IT estate, prioritising tasks based on urgency and impact to business continuity to minimise disruption, working alongside the IT Technician.
* Provide technical support, troubleshoot software and hardware issues across all IT systems, investigate to identify the root cause, and implement solutions to prevent further occurrences for all end-users. Escalate to vendor support where necessary.
* Support and deploy a growing assortment of on-premises and cloud-based software and platforms such as Microsoft 365, Adobe software, license managers, engineering programs and services, and hypervisors, ensuring compliance with license terms and creating self-help articles to reduce operational overhead.
* Investigate, test, and approve software for addition to the Software Library, applying a strong background in incident response to promptly contain and remediate potentially unwanted or malicious behaviour.
* Maintain access to IT systems and company toolsets in line with the principle of least privilege, performing regular audits to assure access levels are not overly permissive and ensuring all access is terminated immediately on user departure or termination.
* Configure and deploy end-user devices and create new user accounts as required, reviewing existing configurations for compliance and documenting standard procedures for internal reference, process management, and auditing purposes.
* Upkeep the IT knowledgebase with current information on IT processes, procedures, frequently asked questions, and common issues.
* Use your excellent communication skills to tailor training, guidance, and explanations to staff of varied technical proficiency, enabling self-remediation in the future.
* Undertake change management, detailing changes to systems and procedures, defining the rollout and backout plans, and presenting to the IT Project Lead for approval.
* Participate in and support IT projects to deliver software and hardware implementation in line with business priorities. Investigate and perform changes to service configuration and produce required documentation on request.
* Assist our IT Systems Administrator with system maintenance, cybersecurity operations, and remediation, facilitating secure access and advising where required.
* Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to procure software licensing, role-appropriate IT hardware, and manage support services and tasking, if needed.
* Monitor IT KPIs, identifying areas for improvement, and providing regular input to the Business Operations Review.
* Line management our IT Technician providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.
Requirements
* 5+ years’ experience as an IT Technician or a similar role.
* Proven experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.
* Someone who understands ITIL-based processes for incident management, problem management, change management and service level management.
* Strong analytical and good problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Demonstrate an ease of communicating with people at all levels of the business.
* Able to thrive under-pressure and make the right decisions when needed.
Certifications:
* ITIL Foundation.
* CompTIA A+.
* Network + or similar.
