First Military Executive Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of one of our prestigious clients based on significant civils projects in Swindon.
The key purpose of this role will be will join a commercial team and is likely to report to the Commercial Lead and to be responsible for sub-contract management of projects. The successful candidate will likely have extensive Tier 1 civils contractor experience in subcontractor management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Management of change process.
2. Identifying change with the project team.
3. Ascertaining and subsequently demonstrating contractual entitlement to change.
4. Preparation of notices to the client of change entitlement as requirement by the contract.
5. Valuing change to ensure all costs associated with the change are recovered through a target uplift.
6. Interfacing with the project team (particularly Project Managers and Planners).
7. Maintenance of an up to date change control register (weekly) showing status of all change i.e: notice submitted to client, response received, programme assessed, quote submitted.
8. Reviewing contractual correspondence from the client in order to identify change and reviewing of instructions issued by client in order to determine their sufficiency and correctness.
9. Preparation of early warning notices for any potential future change and organising subsequent risk reduction meeting.
10. Maintenance of early warning register.
11. Interfacing with client in order to demonstrate entitlement to change.
12. A secondary responsibility is to provide commercial support / advice to Project Managers.
13. Promote high safety standards.
14. Report any close calls or unsafe acts / conditions observed.
Skills and Qualifications:
15. Degree qualified.
16. CSCS card.
17. Civil engineering projects experience is essential.
18. Experience of forms of contract used in civil engineering and experience on Target Cost contracts.
19. Change control management knowledge is a must.
20. Must be self motivated with initiative to manage all change on the project.
21. Must have good client interfacing skills in order to build mutual respect and trust.
22. Must be a good team player and be able to work with different personalities across the project in order to identify change and value it.
23. Must have good communications skills, particularly written communication as the role will involve writing numerous communications and preparing documents demonstrating entitlement to change to the client.
24. MRICS / MCIOB / MCIES would be advantageous.

Salary: £65,000 Per Annum + £5,750 Car Allowance
