Description
The NCO2 Team Leader is responsible for attending to and repairing public-reported gas escapes. This includes making safe or repairing gas service pipes or mains, re-assessing previous escapes, laying mains and/or services, and carrying out mains/service isolations. The role requires exceptional customer service skills, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to safe working practices, efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead team activities and duties
* Attend gas leaks and perform groundwork excavations and reinstatements
* Use appropriate signing, lighting, and guarding measures
* Ensure cable avoidance and deliver equipment and tools as needed
* Patrol and protect plant and equipment
* Work on deep excavations up to 2.5 meters
* Participate in standby rota system
Experience and Qualifications
Applicants must hold a full valid driver’s license and be able to be clean-shaven daily for health and safety reasons. Responsibilities include supporting the classification and programming of gas escapes, testing, surveying, detection, and diagnostic work on the network and customer premises.
The role involves:
* Receiving instructions, planning, and organizing resources for efficient work execution
* Laying, connecting, disconnecting, commissioning, decommissioning, and maintaining pipework and associated equipment, including non-routine tasks requiring specialist knowledge
* Responding to emergencies, participating in standby, and assisting with testing and diagnostics
* Carrying out excavation, backfill, reinstatement, and repair work to standards, including waste removal
* Providing training, advice, and support to teams and individuals
* Supporting third-party operations near the gas system
* Gathering information and preparing reports, including technical documentation
* Managing equipment and materials in accordance with standards and procedures
* Promoting team working and development to achieve business objectives and improve performance
