InChem is located in Rock Hill, SC, approximately 25 miles south of Charlotte, NC, and about 70 miles north of Columbia, SC. Rock Hill offers scenic riverfront views along the Catawba River, numerous nature trails, restaurants, and thirty-one parks used for both recreation and local events. Its historic downtown features twelve buildings built as early as 1840, offering dining and retail options. The city is also home to three colleges, including Winthrop University, founded in 1886, which enrolls nearly 6,000 students annually.
CHEMICAL OPERATOR OPPORTUNITY
We’re looking for full-time, entry-level CHEMICAL OPERATORS. The CHEMICAL OPERATOR is responsible for operating chemical plant machines and entire chemical processes. Monitors instruments, adjusts valves and gauges, and interprets chemical reactions.
Some of the daily duties include:
1. Operate a variety of process equipment, including reaction systems, distillation systems, filters, extractors, reactors, pumps, and centrifuges in compliance with prescribed operating procedures.
2. Load and unload raw materials, intermediates, and finished products into and out of process equipment.
3. Set up and adjust indicating and controlling devices.
4. Monitor and record reactions, noting changes in chemical and physical properties and compositional changes of substances.
5. Adjust valves and controls to maintain system at specified temperature, pressure, and vacuum levels.
6. Maintain logs of gauge readings, shift production, and equipment malfunctions.
7. Troubleshoot process and/or equipment problems.
The CHEMICAL OPERATOR may be exposed to loud noises, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals (including high and low pH), flammable materials, high, precarious places, and moving mechanical parts. The role may also involve exposure to extreme temperatures, including outside weather conditions such as wet and humid environments. The CHEMICAL OPERATOR must understand proper PPE use, including fit-tested, full-face respirators where required.
The CHEMICAL OPERATOR must be able to navigate stairs and ladders, and lift/move up to 55 pounds, or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
The CHEMICAL OPERATOR shifts are:
* 1st shift: Mon. to Fri., 4:45 am to 1:00 pm
* 2nd shift: Mon. to Fri., 11:45 am to 8:00 pm
* 3rd shift: Mon. to Thurs., 7:30 pm to 5:30 am
