Offer description

DLA Piper’s Global Scholarships Programme is for talented students who are studying Law or have completed a Law degree and are undertaking a Masters course in their home country. This two year Scholarship includes payment of tuition fees (in home countries), mentoring, internships, online and in person learning and development opportunities and the chance to build peer and professional networks.

The DLA Piper Global Scholarship gives students an insight into the legal profession and the experience and skills needed to be successful lawyers and leaders. We encourage applications from students from all backgrounds, including students from minority ethnic groups, students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and those that might have faced other barriers to education.
DLA Piper is a global business law firm with lawyers in Africa, the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East, positioning us to help companies with their legal needs around the world. Our strategy is simple – to support the legal needs of our clients wherever they do business.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:

* Be studying law, and in your last to second last year of study in your home country, or
* Have completed a Law degree and have been accepted to pursue a Master’s Degree in a related field in your home country
* Currently be achieving, or be expected to achieve a first-class degree, or be in the top 10% of your class
* Receive a recommendation from your university
* Be a citizen of the country you are applying from
* Have a good level of spoken and written English as this will ensure you are able to fully participate in the programme

Please note, as part of your application you will need to upload the following documents (as a Microsoft word document or PDF) to support your application:

* Your university academic transcript (evidence of the grades you have achieved at university).
* A letter of recommendation from your university (from one of your teachers, Heads of Department of Dean of the Law School).

You will also need to send us a video of yourself, not exceeding 2 minutes, telling us about yourself and why you chose to study law.

At DLA Piper, we aim to make meaningful progress and build an inclusive culture where anyone affected by disability, neurodiversity or a long-term health condition has an equitable and accessible chance of success. If you think you may need adjustments or additional support to enable you to participate in our recruitment process, please contact our Recruitment team and we will be happy to support you.

Agile Working

We recognise that people have responsibilities and interests outside of their career and that as a business, we all benefit from working flexibly. That’s why we are open to discussing with candidates the different ways in which we are able to support requests for agile working arrangements.

Pre-Engagement Screening

In the event that we make an offer to you, and where local legislation permits, we will conduct pre-engagement screening checks that may include but are not limited to your professional and academic qualifications, your eligibility to work in the relevant jurisdiction, any criminal records, your financial stability, and references from previous employers.

Our hiring approach

Our hiring approach enables us to learn about the professional and person you are, and gives you the opportunity to learn about us. Your recruitment experience can differ depending on the type of role you are interviewing for. You will always meet your direct Line Manager for your role, as well as peers and close collaborators for the position. For some of our roles we may also use assessment tools, practical exercises, and panel presentations. Your Recruitment Business Partner will inform you of the recruitment process at the start of any recruitment process, but please let us know if you have any questions prior to making an application.

We’re redefining what an international law firm can be. With a unique global network and an unparalleled range of expertise, this is where you’ll work on the cases that shape the world and will define your career.

We pride ourselves on the extraordinary impact we make beyond the borders of traditional law. That’s only possible because of the skills our business professionals bring and the environment we create to let them thrive. See where your skills could take you.
