Team Leader - Waste Operations
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 - 17.30pm - 40 hours per week Salary: £28,080

We're looking for a hands-on Team Leader to lead a small, motivated team within a busy hazardous waste operation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and a proactive, safety-first approach who enjoys working in a practical, outdoor environment.

Day-to-day duties: your duties will include (but not be limited to):
Lead and motivate a team of 2–3 people, ensuring productivity and KPI targets are met
Coordinate daily unloading of palletised waste and support the inspection and segregation process
Communicate and liaise effectively with site chemists and other departments to ensure smooth material flow
Complete daily FLT pre-use checks and ensure all equipment and tools are operated safely in line with company policy
Oversee the weighing, segregation, and safe storage of incoming waste materials
Maintain maximum storage capacity through effective palletising and organisation of storage bays
Carry out housekeeping duties including sweeping, litter picking, and drum crushing
Support vehicle loading/unloading and assist with traffic management (banksman duties if trained)
Promote a strong Health & Safety culture, reporting near misses and addressing hazards immediately
Complete administrative checks, reporting, and team records accurately and on time
Essential skills: To be successful as a Team Leader, you will need:
FLT Counterbalance licence – essential
Previous team leader or supervisory experience – ideal but not essential
A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance
Willingness to work outdoors in a hazardous chemical environment
A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to lead by example
Good communication and organisational skills
Own transport
Training: Full training will be provided, with ongoing development support.
