About the Role
In your role as a Kitchen Assistant you’ll embody kindness – the core value that runs through HC-One’s Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. You’ll support residents as individuals, contributing to high‑quality care through food and ensuring every guest feels respected and cared for.
Responsibilities
* Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
* Serve meals with warmth and respect, ensuring timely, friendly service.
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
* Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
* Support stock rotation and ensure ingredients are properly stored.
* Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
* Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless, even after a busy lunch rush.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone with kitchen experience and a passion for helping others. A NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation is preferred, or a willingness to work toward it. Strong organisational skills, keen attention to detail, following recipes accurately, and demonstrating patience, respect, and genuine kindness are essential.
