Our client is seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Test Technician to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in mechanical and electrical testing within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
Test Technician Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical and electrical inspection and testing of incoming components, sub‑assemblies, and finished products throughout the manufacturing process.
- Test electromechanical rotating devices (including slip rings where applicable), using appropriate mechanical and electrical test methods.
- Carry out electrical testing including insulation resistance, electrical noise, and voltage drop measurements to ensure product compliance.
- Use precision measuring equipment and metrology techniques to verify components against specification.
- Conduct detailed visual inspections to identify surface defects such as nicks, burrs, pits, scratches, and other imperfections.
- Follow inspection standards and complete accurate sign‑off documentation to ensure consistent reporting and customer communication.
- Produce clear and accurate test and inspection reports and maintain associated records.
- Support investigations into internal and external quality issues, including quarantined parts and customer returns, using root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain departmental KPIs and support process performance monitoring and improvement activities.
- Support risk assessments across departmental processes and tasks.
- Adhere to company 5S standards and all health, safety, and environmental policies to maintain a safe working environment.
Test Technician Ideal Candidate:
- Strong understanding of metrology and mechanical/electrical inspection and testing practices.
- Expertise in precision measuring equipment and test instrumentation.
- Experience performing electrical tests including insulation resistance, electrical noise, and voltage drop measurements.
- Strong visual inspection skills with the ability to identify defects such as nicks, burrs, pits, and scratches.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from CAD models and technical drawings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word).
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Experience producing detailed test and inspection reports and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Experience with slip rings or other electromechanical rotating devices (Desirable).
- Familiarity with problem‑solving tools such as A3 and 8D (Desirable).
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems (Desirable).
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, including 5S and Visual Management (Desirable).
- Experience supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities (Desirable).
Test Technician Working Hours:
- Monday – Thursday, 08:00 - 17:00 (8.5 hours)
- Fridays, 08:00 - 13:00 (5 hours)
- Overtime available
