As an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team the post-holder will work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the CMHT. In particular the post-holder will be responsible for the assessment, formulation, implementation and evaluation of complex programmes of care using a strength based recovery focused approach to care that proactively involves the person and optimises self-management. The post holder is required to undertake duties without direct supervision as well as supporting and supervising work undertaken by registered and unregistered nursing staff. The post-holder is responsible for proactively promoting partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/ agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies. This involves working in a variety of home/ near to home community environments. Participating in as well as providing regular caseload line management supervision and Clinical Supervision and undertaking line management responsibilities are critical aspects of the role. Supervising the practice of others, monitoring undertaking mentorship/ preceptorship responsibilities and supporting the team leader in the ongoing learning and development of the staff team and the CMHT key functions are important aspects of this role.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

1. South Glasgow Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health Service (CAMHS) have an exciting opportunity for two permanent Band 6 Specialist Mental Health Nurses within the Gorbals Health & Care Centre
2. One post is part-time, 29.6 hours per week and another post is full-time, 37 hours per week

Key responsibilities:

5. Functioning as Named Nurse/ Named Practitioner within a multi-disciplinary team for a complex patient caseload requiring specialist mental health care undertaking named practitioner responsibilities for patients requiring care coordination where required
6. The holistic assessment, of complex care needs including risk assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist programmes of care
7. Carrying out all relevant forms of nursing care pertinent to the needs of individual patients in the least restrictive and disruptive manner as possible
8. Identifying, coordinating and responding to health promotion needs of patients focusing on improving the mental and physical well-being of patients
9. Identifying, coordinating and responding to the needs of patients which might be related to vulnerability, gender, health, domestic abuse, adult/child protection and/or self harm
10. Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and carers with complex/ unstable care needs ensuring that needs are identified and met within a participative framework demonstrating principles of equality, dignity and respect accounting for spiritual and cultural diversity. Working proactively with other agencies services (ie interpreter services) to aid effective communication
11. Working within agreed competency based parameters undertaking evidence based psychological therapies/ psychological approaches to care with individuals and/ or group settings
12. Administering prescribed medication/ treatments in compliance with NHSGGC policy; monitoring effectiveness of prescribed treatments; monitoring and effective management of unwanted side effects
13. Working in partnership with patients and carers using values based practice to deliver person centred care promoting and supporting mental well being and prevention of relapse

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Essential

15. Registered Mental Health Nurse or RNLD level 1 NMC registration
16. Educated to minimum degree level or equivalent
17. Completion of an evidencebased psychological therapies/psychological approaches to care formal programme of study
18. Actively working towards postgraduate level or equivalent
19. Specialist knowledge and application of mental health nursing care (including physical healthcare)
20. Specialist knowledge and application of risk assessment/factors impacting on mental health/mental illness/wellbeing and recovery
21. Evidence of active and ongoing CPD
22. Evidence of Clinical Supervision/reflective practice as a supervisor
23. Specialist knowledge of rights, valuesbased practice and legislation frameworks
24. Evidence of using digital technology/information systems/email and basic applications
25. Ability to work flexibly and prioritise workload, delegate appropriately and manage safe personcentred care without direct supervision
26. Ability to form therapeutic professional relationships and work as a member of the wider team
27. Working knowledge and demonstrable evidence of the NMC Code
28. Ability to undertake a number of clinical contacts in a home/nearhome environment on a daily basis, including driving where required

29. Completion of a recognised mentorship preparation programme/registered mentor
