Smart Start Day Nursery looking for Nursery Practitioner

Wages range: £9.50 - £9.75 per an hour

Working: Monday to Friday -Full time

Our nursery

Nursery is in two separate buildings, a baby unit and top unit. The building is situated between shops and is one level.

The separate units run as one nursery with a deputy overseeing the baby unit and the manager overseeing the main unit.

Smart Start is a bright, fun and welcoming nursery. We provide quality childcare in an exciting and stimulating environment, helping your little ones to flourish. All children are taught the value of Friendship, Honesty, Sharing and most importantly Respect for others.

Our ethos is a 'home from home' atmosphere.

The After school care is positioned in the heart of the nursery. The school children have access to a room suitable for their age and to the outside garden area. The after school is a time for the children to unwind from school and have fun

Position details

We are looking for someone to join our fun and welcoming team, who is fun, enthusiastic and enjoys caring for children. The position is for a nursery practitioner to work between Monday to Friday on a different shift pattern. This role is to work with children who are aged three months to twenty-four months. The position is to work in our baby unit.

Job summary

Nursery Practitioner role includes:

* To effectively deliver and ensure that the individual needs and interest of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members).
* To follow current frameworks, the EYFS and other Ofsted guidance.
* To keep records of your children's development and create observations and share with parents, carer's and other key adults in the child's life.
* To be a key worker to the babies in your care.
* Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
* To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carer's to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.
* To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.
* Cultural capital is to be part of the basis of planning and exercises offered to the children in your care.
* To advise the manager/deputy of any concerns, e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
* To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, summer or Christmas fayre, etc.
* To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.
* To work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the setting's ethos is fulfilled. To uphold and encourage the ethos and values of the nursery are embedded in all she does and that of the staff and ensure it is at the heart of the team and nursery environment.
* To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
* To develop your role within the team, especially with regard to being a key person.
* To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
* To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside.
* To support all staff and apprentices.
* To ensure excellent standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
* Complete regular evaluating and reflecting on your own practice and practice of other staff. This will involve completing a personal development plan and continuous professional development plan which will be part of your supervision, to support you to continually develop and reflect.
* To undertake and lead on additional responsibilities such as SENCO, training coordinator, safeguarding Officer etc.

Desired experience and qualifications

Childcare qualification level three,

Previous experience working with children from three months to thirty months,

An enthusiastic person to deliver outstanding childcare and create fun and stimulating learning opportunities,

First aid training.

Interview

Will be held on site of the nursery but coronaviurs procedures will be put in place.

COVID-19 considerations:

Applicants that are successful at being interviewed, a negative lateral flow test will need to be completed before attending nursery, hands are to be santized upon entering and exiting nursery. A form of photo ID is to be shown before entering nursery.
