About the Role:
* Teach Sociology across Key Stages 4 and 5, with the possibility of contributing to Key Stage 3 Citizenship or PSHE lessons.
* Plan and deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that cater to a diverse range of learning styles and abilities.
* Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources, including discussions, debates, case studies, documentaries, and sociological research, to bring Sociology to life for students.
* Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
* Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Sociology curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
* Foster a love of Sociology in students, encouraging them to explore social issues, develop their critical thinking skills, and become informed and engaged citizens.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
* Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Sociology education.
Ideal Candidate:
* Holds QTS or equivalent.
* Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Sociology.
* Demonstrates a passion for teaching Sociology and a commitment to student success.
* Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
* Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Sociology and relevant examination specifications.
* Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
