A well-established UK-based manufacturer of professional equipment is seeking a Product Design Engineer to join its dynamic Research & Development team. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in the full product development lifecycle—from early concept and prototyping through to detailed design and manufacturing handover.

Key Responsibilities:
* Take the lead in developing detailed, high-quality design solutions across various product ranges.
* Contribute actively to product innovation, cost optimisation, and error minimisation.
* Provide input into R&D process improvement initiatives at team and departmental levels.
* Liaise with internal teams and external partners to represent engineering perspectives clearly and effectively.
* Embrace and support continuous improvement in design tools, systems, and working methods.
* Maintain focus on cost, manufacturability, and design accuracy throughout development projects.
About You:
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Experience in a product design or engineering role within a relevant industry
* Degree (or equivalent qualification) in product design, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
* Strong 3D CAD skills and experience with document control systems
* Good understanding of mechanical loads, stresses, and forces
* Proven ability to take concepts through to manufacture
* Hands-on experience with component/system redesign and optimisation
* Knowledge of common production methods such as:
* Plastic injection moulding
* Sheet metal fabrication
* Rotational moulding
* Assembly of complex fabricated systems
* Ability to produce accurate technical drawings and documentation
* Understanding of:
* High-volume, low-cost production
* Low-volume, high-value manufacturing
* Manual prototyping/modelmaking skills to test concepts
* A commercially aware mindset with cross-functional collaboration skills
