An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Ecologist to join a well-established, multidisciplinary consultancy based in Cardiff. This is a key role for an experienced and commercially aware ecologist who is ready to take the next step in their career - leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and delivering high-quality ecological solutions across a broad portfolio of work. You'll lead field surveys, manage ecological assessments, and contribute to the design and delivery of mitigation strategies and habitat enhancements. Key Responsibilities; Managing and delivering ecological surveys, including protected species work Preparing EcIA, HRA, and licence applications Leading and mentoring junior team members Client and stakeholder liaison Supporting project bids and business development initiatives Ensuring best practice in ecological fieldwork, reporting, and health & safety What You'll Need; A degree in ecology or related discipline Minimum 5 years' consultancy experience Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy At least one protected species licence (e.g. bats, GCN, dormouse) preferred Full membership of CIEEM (or working towards) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork Whether you're looking to step up into a senior role or bring your existing experience to a new, ambitious team - this role offers long-term career growth in a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.
