Role Overview
This role involves specialist assessments of patients referred to the eating disorder service using a blended approach of Teams or face‑to‑face as indicated. Liaise with referrers, provide advice to primary and secondary services and external agencies, support new assessors. Motivated, empathic, skilled, dedicated, excellent communication.
Team and Service Overview
Adult Community Team models front of house. Staff: mental health nurses, occupational therapists, dietitian, nursing associates, family therapist, specialist practitioners, consultant psychiatrist. Treatment pathways: FREED, intensive community treatment, primary care pathway.
Vincent Square Eating Disorders Service: all‑age service with adult inpatient ward, day programme, children/young people service, adult outpatient. Service provider for boroughs Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Ealing, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Brent, Harrow. Also accepts national referrals. Base South Kensington, satellite Harrow, new Near Paddington site. Flexible working from home up to one day per week.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist eating disorder assessments via Teams or face‑to‑face.
* Advise referrers on service access and treatment options.
* Act as lead professional and undertake risk assessments when appropriate.
* Work with primary and secondary healthcare services, families and carers to coordinate care.
* Offer support and advice to seriously ill patients awaiting inpatient or outpatient admission.
* Maintain daily contact with Adult Community Team Lead, organize own schedule, promote SDG and Trust policies.
* Participate in mandatory staff groups, clinical meetings, training and supervision.
* Provide written reports adhering to Trust guidelines.
* Contribute to operational and strategic plans for service development.
* Ensure confidentiality, data protection and professional conduct.
* Act within Mental Health Act and Trust policies.
Qualifications & Experience
* Post‑qualification experience working with eating disorder patients in a ward or community setting.
* Motivated, empathic, skilled, dedicated with excellent communication skills.
* Capable of working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Line management and clinical supervision experience preferred.
Training & Development
* Participate in induction and training of new staff.
* Identify training needs and develop educational plans.
* Maintain mandatory professional training and evidence‑based knowledge.
* Engage in personal development, appraisal and special projects.
Flexible Working
Up to one day per week from home, remote working system provided.
