Multi-Trader / Maintenance Operative - Surbiton (Student Accommodation) Rate: £16.16 per hour (Direct PAYE inc. hol pay) OR £18.83 per hour (Umbrella) Location: Surbiton, Surrey (KT5) Contract: Temporary (Long-term sick cover) | Start: ASAP Atkinson Baker Associates are currently recruiting a versatile Multi-Trader / Maintenance Operative on behalf of a leading National Facilities Management Provider. The Site You will be based at a large, busy Student Accommodation Halls of Residence in Surbiton. The site consists of 60 blocks, 178 flats, and 715 bedrooms/en-suites. The major benefit of this role is that all work is on one static site —there is no driving between jobs, and free on-site parking is provided. The Role This is a highly varied role covering long-term sickness. You will be the "go-to" person for keeping the site running smoothly and ensuring the students have a safe, well-maintained environment. Your daily duties will include: Reactive Maintenance: General repairs to internal building fabric, small decoration jobs, and basic carpentry (fixing doors/hinges). Basic Plumbing: Unblocking sinks and showers, and changing showerheads. Student Support: Attending to locked-out students. Site Upkeep: Daily litter picking and ensuring external/internal communal areas are presentable. Unskilled PPMs (Planned Preventative Maintenance): Conducting basic compliance tasks such as water temperature checks and emergency light flick testing. Requirements Essential Vetting: A valid Basic DBS is required due to the student environment. Essential Skills: A strong all-rounder with demonstrable experience in basic plumbing, decorating, and general building maintenance. Essential: A friendly, approachable, and professional manner, as this is a customer-facing role interacting daily with students and site staff. Preferred: Previous experience working within Student Accommodation, Social Housing, or a static Facilities Management environment.
