Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and resilient Clinical Pathway Administrator to support the delivery of Ophthalmology at Barnet Hospital. This fast‑paced role requires strong attention to detail, patient focus and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
* General administrative duties: scanning patient notes onto EPR, photocopying, distribution of mail and triaged referrals.
* Maintain patient demographics and contact details on Cerner.
* Use computerised tracking systems appropriately when accessing patient records.
* Manage the admin shared inbox and distribute correspondence according to Trust guidelines.
* Support the failsafe officer to ensure smooth and safe planning of patients’ pathway.
* Process Blueteq funding forms, upload to Medisight and Hi‑Cost portal, and respond to queries to ensure timely, accurate information.
* Provide cross‑cover for other Clinical Pathway Administrators to maintain consistent administration service.
* Manage Dictate and ensure any correspondence is sent to external organisations.
* Review actions from Dictate, e.g., confirming test results or booking follow‑ups are sent to clinicians in different specialties.
Skill and Experience Requirements
* Essential: English & Maths at GCSE level or equivalent.
* Previous experience in a healthcare setting interacting with patients and staff.
* Administrative and organisational experience, managing workload and meeting deadlines.
* Experience dealing with non‑routine and complex problems.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
* Excellent customer care practice: polite, sympathetic, patient and diplomatic.
* Understanding of patient confidentiality.
* Knowledge of Cerner or equivalent system.
* Ability to work without direct supervision and under pressure.
* Excellent teamwork and collaboration across clinical and administrative staff.
* Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values.
* Desirable: Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Attended courses or further study demonstrating continuous development.
* Awareness of national and Trust pathway targets (e.g., 18‑week RTT).
* Ability to confidently interact across all staff levels.
* Proof of continuous learning and development.
* Fast learning and assimilation of information.
* Proficiency with databases.
* Flexibility to accommodate peaks and troughs of activity.

Salary and Hours
Band 4: £33,262 – £36,027 per annum (inclusive of HCAS). Contract: Fixed term, 12 months. Working pattern: Full‑time.
