Position Overview:
Applications are invited from enthusiastic individuals to join the busy Microbiology department, which offers comprehensive analytical and diagnostic services to assist in infection diagnosis across SYB, including specialist testing for external hospitals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform scientific/technical procedures under the guidance of a healthcare scientist practitioner.
2. Conduct healthcare science activities under indirect supervision.
3. Pre-analytical processing of samples: receipt, preparation, and processing.
4. Properly store, retrieve, and dispose of biological materials.
5. Handle queries from medical staff, nursing staff, and other service users, including telephone inquiries.
6. Maintain high scientific and technical standards.
7. Promote and support education and training initiatives.
8. Adhere to all Trust and departmental policies.
9. Maintain clinical records related to activities and input/test results as necessary.
10. Supervise, organise, and allocate work; train less experienced staff if required.
