Position Summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking an experienced nurse to provide advanced patient care in a hospital or inpatient setting, particularly for patients with complex illnesses or injuries requiring intensive, timely interventions. The role requires a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly trained team members.


Responsibilities

Essential Functions

1. Demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessment, therapies, high-intensity interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
2. Utilize assessment data to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions.
3. Identify and prioritize information to take immediate, evidence-based, patient-focused actions.
4. Monitor and adjust specialized equipment, interpret electronic displays, and respond to life-saving situations according to standards and protocols.
5. Assess patient needs, develop and revise individualized care plans, and evaluate progress towards expected outcomes.
6. Build respectful relationships with team members and patients, respecting diversity.
7. Serve as a patient and family advocate.
8. Provide age-appropriate care, serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinician as needed.
9. Communicate effectively with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to plan and manage care.
10. Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medication administration, and treatments.
11. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
12. Prioritize patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
13. Delegate tasks appropriately, resolve problems effectively, and communicate patient or unit concerns.
14. Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environments and be aware of legal issues and patients' rights.

Specialized Responsibilities for ECMO Specialist

1. Provide staffing for Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) services after specialized training.
2. Work under the guidance of unit leadership, intensivist, perfusion, and collaborate with bedside staff to ensure optimal ECMO patient care.
3. Perform technical skills efficiently and safely, troubleshoot crises, and manage emergencies.
4. Operate ECMO equipment, monitor and optimize the circuit, and administer blood products and medications as ordered.
5. Manage ECMO during transport and ensure continuous coverage.
6. Participate in quarterly simulations and contribute to team training.

Other Related Functions

1. Contribute to team knowledge, skills, quality improvement, and organizational outcomes.
2. Participate or lead practice and performance improvement committees.
3. Mentor peers, practice resourcefulness, and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
4. Engage in ongoing professional development and education.
5. Perform additional duties as assigned, including equipment maintenance and providing support in other units as needed.


Qualifications

Education/Training

* Graduate of an approved nursing school.
* Meet all competency requirements of Orlando Health and the specific department.

Licensure/Certification

* Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
* Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
* ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for certain units; NRP specifically for NICU.

Experience

* Minimum of 1-year nursing experience unless otherwise approved by AVP or higher.
