Interaction Education are really pleased to currently be working with a lovely school in the Harrow area in their search for a School Health and Safety Officer.
This is a full time position, initially beginning on a temporary contract, but with a view to becoming permanent, and the opportunity to work in a prestigious and successful school.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular risk assessments across the school to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
2. Ensure compliance with local and national health and safety regulations and guidelines.
3. Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
4. Provide training and guidance to staff and students on health and safety best practices.
5. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of health and safety measures and suggest improvements.
6. Investigate accidents or incidents and prepare reports, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
7. Maintain records of safety inspections, audits, and safety-related incidents.
8. Liaise with external health and safety agencies, as necessary.
9. Coordinate first aid training and ensure first aid kits are fully stocked.
Qualifications & Skills:
10. A relevant health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable.
11. Previous experience in a health and safety role, preferably within an educational setting.
12. Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk assessment techniques, and accident investigation.
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
14. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
15. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
16. A proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
