Are you an engaging, collaborative, and highly organized individual with experience working with ‘high risk,’ vulnerable young people, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team? Do you have a flexible and empathetic approach to your work?
If so, join St Giles Trust as our Trauma Caseworker. You will play a key role in our award-winning youth violence service at the Royal London Hospital, supporting vulnerable victims of violence aged 12-25.
About St Giles Trust
We are an ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes, and the right support they need. We believe that people with first-hand experience of overcoming issues such as offending, homelessness, addictions, and gang involvement hold the key to positive change in others.
St Giles is now a kickstart employer, providing job opportunities for 16-24-year-olds on Universal Credit at risk of long-term unemployment.
About this key role
The successful candidate will be embedded in the trauma team, working closely with clinicians and hospital staff to support young people admitted to the Major Trauma Centre, from admission through discharge and into the community. This includes providing comprehensive assessments, advice, referrals, and support services to young victims of violence, exploring innovative ways to reduce re-victimization.
You will develop support and risk management plans based on your assessments, promote inter-agency collaboration, and maintain relationships with partner agencies. You will deliver holistic support, working independently or with colleagues, providing social and housing support, accompanying clients to appointments, benefits work, debt advice, liaising with utilities, court appearances, and other practical services.
What we are looking for
You will be passionate about supporting and uplifting children and young people and want to make a positive community impact. You should understand the challenges faced by some CYP and be relatable. You will need:
* Personal or lived experience of the criminal justice system or issues facing this client group
* Experience providing support, advice, and advocacy
* Experience supporting CYP and assessing their needs
* Understanding of trauma impacts on young people
* A relevant qualification or working towards one
* Knowledge of relevant services for young people and families
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
