Overview
Position title: Support Worker - St. Martins Extra Care. St. Martin's is a brand new Extra Care facility situated in Gillingham. People living in St. Martin's will have a health need and require support to maintain as much independence as possible. There are 55 self-contained flats within the building, predominantly for people over the age of 55. Each flat has its own kitchen and living space, with a wet room.
We are looking for caring people who are passionate about assisting the people we support to live a fulfilled life and maintain as much independence as possible.
Location: St. Martin's, Queen Street, Gillingham
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care, such as washing, dressing, toileting, in accordance with individual care plans.
* Undertake domestic tasks, including cleaning and laundry, within the individual’s home or in shared facilities.
* Assist with shopping when required and undertake minor financial transactions on behalf of the people we support in line with clear rules and guidance (e.g. collecting pensions and benefits).
* Help prepare meals and snacks.
* Assist with enabling tasks to help people become more independent or retain independence at home.
* Maintain day-to-day written, factual records when required.
* Provide verbal feedback to the Manager or external professionals as required about a person we support.
* Alert the Team Leader/Manager to any concerns, such as deterioration in health or a fall.
* Respond to emergency situations in line with Care Dorset procedures.

About You / Qualifications
Previous experience as a Support Worker or in a similar role is preferred but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided. Ideal candidates will have:

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
