As a Logistics Operative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials for the manufacturing of transformers at our TST facility. Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, and delivering materials safely and efficiently, ensuring they are available at the right time and in the right place to support production schedules. Your work will directly impact the success of on-time manufacturing, helping to avoid costly delays and ensuring operational excellence. Job Description Key Responsibilities: Material delivery forms a key part of the successful building of transformers on time. The liquidated damages associated with late delivery can run into 100,000's of pounds hence the importance of ensuring materials are delivered on time without damage, deterioration or loss. - Material Handling: Safely load and unload goods from vehicles, using forklifts (FLTs), cranes, or manual handling as necessary. - Storage Management: Store materials in designated storage zones, following stock control instructions and ensuring preservation of materials and components. - Inventory Control: Perform routine cycle counting, stock takes and investigate discrepancies to maintain accurate inventory records in SAP. - Material Delivery: Kit and deliver materials and components to the correct manufacturing areas in line with the Master Production Schedule (MPS). - System Updates: Accurately input and update data in SAP, ensuring the material handling system remains current and reliable. - Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily equipment checks (e.g., recharging batteries) and support the maintenance of logistics equipment through preventative measures. - Process Improvement: Suggest and implement recommendations to improve and develop material handling and logistics operations. - Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation for storage and material handling activities. - Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all business policies and procedures related to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE). Additional Duties: - Support business-wide Continuous Improvement initiatives. - Collaborate with the wider team to ensure smooth operations and meet delivery deadlines. - Help with any reasonable tasks aligned with your skills and capabilities. Skills & Experience Required: - Experience using logistics systems, with a focus on SAP for materials management. - Certified to operate forklifts (FLT) and overhead cranes, or willing to obtain certification. - A good level of organisational skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment is highly desirable.
