Responsibilities
* Manage, own and be accountable for all aspects of production within a department and deliver products to an agreed schedule.
* Liaise with Planning, Resource management and other departments to develop a schedule to satisfy customer demand.
* Using the agreed schedule from the planning department, review, request and manage required headcount from the resource management team.
* Constantly review progress against schedules to provide early and good communications to internal customers and stakeholders.
* Contribute to tendering activities as appropriate.
* Accountable for headcount volume management.
* Control costs and seek efficiency improvements within the department.
* Communicate effectively and demonstrate the company values.
* Ensure all employees comply with statutory and company regulations.
* Control and improve health & safety of employees within the owned department.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in production or operations management within rail, engineering, or heavy industry.
* Experience leading and motivating technical teams in a workshop or depot setting.
* Track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
* Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance frameworks.
* Experience with planning tools, resource scheduling, and performance tracking.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
