Job Summary
Assistant Psychologist – 12 month fixed term contract, Band 5, part‑time. The role is based in Peterborough and surrounding hospitals and involves providing neuro‑psychological care to stroke and brain injury survivors.
Responsibilities
* Support and enhance professional psychology care for clients of the Integrated Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) and Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service across inpatient and community settings.
* Provide psychological assessment and neuro‑physical interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist, working independently within agreed plans and policies.
* Assist in clinical administration, conduct audits, collect data, develop audit/research projects and provide teaching.
* Attend weekly psychological supervision and engage in CPD as agreed with supervisor and professional manager.
* Travel independently around the county, hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle; public transport is not acceptable.
Qualifications & Experience
* Upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology.
* Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
* Some experience working with people with mental health problems, disabilities or neurological conditions in a health or social services setting.
* Experience of working within a multi‑disciplinary team and conducting psychological assessments (neuropsychological or other standardised assessments).
* Desirable: Previous assistant psychologist post, experience with neurological conditions, lived experience of mental health, evidence‑based interventions, service evaluation or audit, clinical system experience (e.g., SystemOne), knowledge of mindfulness and compassion‑focused therapy.

* Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to convey sensitive information in emotive settings.
* Accepts and uses supervision effectively, including reflection.
* Interpersonally calm, able to diffuse difficult situations, and maintains professional boundaries.
* Works independently, plans workload, manages time flexibly, and demonstrates organisational skills.
* Proficient with databases and data analysis tools (SPSS, Excel); advanced keyboard skills.
Physical Requirements
* Must have access to a personal car and be able to drive independently around the locality.
* Willingness to travel within the locality and to use a smartphone/laptop for virtual consultations.
